The active involvement of the private sector and the younger generation in science, technology and entrepreneurship supports the growth of new fields including the sustainability of the fisheries, aquaculture, marine biotechnology and eco-tourism sectors. The Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism stressed the matter during the Launch of Brunei Ocean Week 2026. The ceremony took place at Universiti Brunei Darussalam, 2nd May morning.
Dayang Hajah Tutiaty binti Haji Abdul Wahab, also shared the importance of the blue economy for ASEAN countries through collaboration in marine resource management and innovation collaboration to shape the future of development. The ceremony continued with the Signing Ceremony of a Memorandum of Understanding, MoU, between three international researchers and strategists from China and Timor-Leste. The MoU further strengthens research collaboration and marine sustainability initiatives in the country.
